The Urgent Call |
| For over forty years, people of all ages have been drawn to God’s message at Tall Timber Ranch. In fact more than 5,100 people experienced the ministry in 1998, generating 12,000 camper days. If one of the camp’s invisible features, the water delivery system, is allowed to go unresolved, the camp faces potential closure until brought up to code. Not only would this be an inconvenience and a disruption to the camp’s mission, the cost of the improvement would be greater if done in a crisis mode in years to come. |
Plans For A Water System |
| The Tall Timber Ranch Board is determined to bring the water distribution system up to the new standard before state agencies take formal action, which could include shutting down the camp until the improvements are made. Our professional advisors- an Ecologist, a Water Systems Engineer and a Lawyer, all of whom are active in the camping program and who are volunteering their services- have advised that as long as we are making strong efforts to upgrade the system, the state agency is more likely to work with us rather than against us. |
Why a New Water Distribution System is Needed |
| While the quality of our water has never been in question, the distribution system and the quantity are inadequate for year round use. Camp fire protection needs upgrading. Our present water storage is insufficient (50 gallons in the winter and 20,000 gallons in the summer). The current fire code requires at least 70,000 gallons. At present, water is distributed through small diameter plastic pipe. It is deficient in meeting the new codes. We must install this system not only to maintain present programs, but also for future plans. The development of a new distribution system will help maintain our water rights with the Department of Ecology. |
