Senior High Camp Day 2!

Today marked the first full day for campers to dive in to a variety of activities that pushed them out of their comfort zones a bit. After a morning of worship and bible studies, we started off with the low ropes course where everyone had to work as a team to achieve their goal.

After lunch, everyone headed off into many different afternoon options such as: archery, rock wall, zip line, high ropes course, and BMX.

The excitement continued with a game of tug-of-war in the mud pit, followed by a wonderful dinner, and then Life Sized Clue!

The night concluded with a campfire session with this week's speaker. We look forward to having loads more crazy adventures this week!

Senior High Camp: Day 1!

What a start to camp we had yesterday! High school students from around the state settled into their cabins yesterday afternoon, then had a blast with a time of get-to-know-you mixers. After a delicious chicken and rice dinner, we had opening worship and a fun night of getting to know the staff while they made fools of themselves in a silly staff skit night. 10 12

Next it was time for opening campfire with this week's speaker, Zachary Miller. It's shaping up to be a fabulous week at Senior High Camp!

Junior High Camp--Day 5!

Yesterday was a combination of both riotous fun and deep connection with God (they typically go best hand-in-hand, don't you think?) We started out the morning with worship, bible study, and our second round of activity classes. After yet another afternoon of incredible activities, campers went through the wardrobe and delved into our experiential worship night, Journey with Aslan. It was an in-depth look at the lies the world tells us, the price Jesus paid, and the freedom that comes with His truth. 72It's been an incredible week so far--one full day left!

Blessings,

Hannah and Jean Luc (Media!)

Junior High Camp: Day 4!

Yesterday marked the middle of this year's Junior High camp! Instead of activity classes, everyone divided into cabin groups and made testimony bracelets--each bead symbolizes a stage or event in one's faith journey, such as an early memory of God or a dream for the future. 50 51After another great afternoon of activities such as zip line, high ropes, rock wall, and crafts, everyone packed up hobo stews and headed to the beach for a cookout! We wrapped up the evening with another campfire message and cabin time. God's message is ringing powerful this week, and at least one student has already accepted Christ--praise God!

Blessings,

Hannah and Jean-Luc

Junior High Day 3!

Another great day at Jr. High Camp! Today, after another great session of worship and bible studies, campers had a blast during the activity classes as they got to develop their skills in pottery, dancing both swing and contemporary styles, archery, ultimate Frisbee, and improv comedy! After that, everybody packed sack lunches and headed for the beach/horse rides. 26 25 24After dinner, we had a fun movie night with popcorn and another great campfire with this week's speaker. The enthusiasm of both campers and staff seems to be growing with each day!

Primary Camp Day 3

It's the end-of-the-middle of primary camp! Today's theme was "Jesus is Savior," and we took an (age appropriate) look at the metaphor of Aslan's sacrifice and how it stands for Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection--I hosted an activity this afternoon and the kids could not stop telling me about it! Speaking of afternoon activities, we had three hours of fun options this afternoon, including zip line, rock wall, archery, and Queen Lucy's Tea Party.

After dinner was movie night--a cartoon version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe--with delicious popcorn, then another great campfire to dive into the message. It's been a great, full day with lots to look forward to tomorrow!

Blessings,

Queen Lucy and Mr. Tumnus

Primary Camp Day 2

What a day! This morning we began our rotations of nature, crafts, music/drama, and low ropes. Bible study was held in cabin groups, with the theme "Who do you say I am?" We are pulling a lot of metaphors for Jesus' life from Aslan in the Narnia books. 42 54

This afternoon was a blast of fun activities and life-size Clue (everyone's favorite this summer--who stole all the marshmallows?), then, marshmallows having successfully been recovered by our young sleuths, it was down to the river for after-dinner s'mores roasting. Tonight's campfire will dive deeper into our bible study theme, then campers will all meet in their cabins for a wind-down discussion time before it's time to sleep--and boy, will they need it!

Blessings,

Hannah and Jean-Luc (Media!)

Junior Camp Day 4--Hump Day!

Uh-oh!! Guess what day it is!! Whatever it is, it sure was a lot of fun! This afternoon campers packed sack lunches and went on local hikes in their groups. There was also a movie showing of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, skit night, ice cream sundaes, dance party, and a drum circle campfire to top it all off! Whew. What a great day to be a camper! 74 75

Today's bible study focus was Jesus is Savior--such a powerful and important message.

Junior Camp Day 3--Rain on our cookout ;)

What a day! It started out as expected--continuing rotations (music/drama, nature, crafts, and low ropes), bible studies, afternoon options... Junior 50 Junior 52

..packing hobo stews, trekking out to the beaches to cook hobo stews...and then rushing back to the lodge, soaking wet from the downpour! Thankfully our kitchen crew was ready to help, and after a fun time singing campfire songs around the dinner tables, we had oven-baked hobo stews and skillet s'mores. Welcome to camp, folks--we don't give up on our hobo stews that easily!

Blessings,

Hannah and Jean-Luc (Media!)

Junior Camp Day 2!

Spirits and energy are high around here on the second day of Junior Camp! This morning, campers divided up into rotation groups for activities: nature, crafts, music/drama, and low ropes. Each morning marks a new rotation, and by the end of the week each group will have been through every activity. Junior 12

After some epic afternoon options such as rock wall and bmx, everyone cooled off and got dirty in the mud pit!

Junior 16

This evening involved a lot of running around for life-size Clue, then it was time to wind down and get serious at this evening's campfire. Today's bible study theme is a quote from Jesus: "Who do you say that I am?"

Hannah and Jean-Luc (media specialists!)

Junior Camp Day 1

It's the first day of Junior Camp!! Today has been a riot of fun mixers (our traditional get-to-know-you games), delicious food (chicken! cupcakes!), hilarious staff introduction skits, and a fun and worship-filled campfire time. David, our assistant program director this year, is teaching about some different aspects of Christ this week, and tonight is the introduction to the central idea: who is Jesus and how do we have a relationship with Him?

Adventure Camp Day 1

Earlier this afternoon a swarm of 7-9th graders arrived at Tall Timber ready for Adventure camp. The afternoon consisted of get-to-know-you mixers, a tour around camp, and a delicious fish dinner. Ad16

After dinner there were plenty of laughs during staff skit night, followed by the first campfire session from this week's guest speaker, Clifford. It's looking to be a late night of Turkish Delight smuggling (yes, even our night games are Narnian!)

It's That Time Again...

2015_staff_0005   This past Sunday afternoon Tall Timber's lodge was once again abuzz with the excitement of a new summer staff. Primary Camp day 3

MID WEEK FUNIMG_9549

The second full day of primary camp again started out with breakfast, A-frame worship, bible study and a rotation into Drums, Music, Nature, and Crafts. After lunch the horse back riders began their journeys and more chances to go on the giant swing, zipline, rockwall, waterslide, bmx, and archery were provided. The evening was a restful one as before dinner kids planned out their skits for tomorrow night and after dinner everyone settled into sleeping bags to enjoy the movie Brave and close out the night with some fun songs and a meaningful story time. A day well spent and only the most fun to come on the next!

Primary Camp day 2

Please excuse our internet issues up here in the mountains, I try my best to get this blog out nightly, enjoy!!

A Full DayIMG_9478

Campers woke from their first nights sleep ready and excited for the day and what a day it was! It all started with breakfast than everyone filed into the A-frame for some worship songs, the daily skit, and an encouraging message from Lyndsay. After A-frame campers had bible study with their cabins and moved on into rotations of Crafts, Nature, Music, or Drums for the rest of the morning. Directly after lunch is a hour of rest to regain some energy for the afternoon options where kids got to go on the zip line, giant swing, BMX, water-slide  rock wall, and archery until 4:15 at which time it was time for BATTLE OF THE CLANS other wise known as a giant water balloon fight in which campers try their best to soak the councilors of the other clans and the clan with the driest councilors at the end wins. This crazy fun was followed by dinner, after which girls and boys went to separate beaches for some good rock skipping, s'more making, fire watching times. Campfire was what ended the evening off as there were some exciting songs and a more peaceful story time and it was off to bed in order to rest for day 3!

Junior Camp Day 4

Due to a server error this was not able to be posted until this next morning, apologies.IMG_8257

HIKE ONIMG_8244

IMG_8288After the usual morning routine of breakfast, worship, bible study, and a rotation through crafts/music-drama/nature/low ropes everyone hurriedly packed sack lunches in preparation for the long option hike day! With lunches packed at waterbottles full to the brim all set off to adventure through the trees and dirt. On arrival back to the lodge there was a welcoming dinner and it was straight off to one of my favorite activities, camper skit night! There was much merryment to be had and it didn't stop there! After a glorious skit night there were ice cream sundays AND a DANCE PARTY.IMG_8450 The evening rolled down into a quite end after some rousing campfire songs and another testimony shared. Campers will soon snuggle in their beds in order to be fully rested for their last full day of camp tomorrow.

Praise the Lord.[a]

Sing to the Lord a new song,     his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. -Psalm 149:1-5
