The Tall Timber Team
Dave has been a camper, volunteer, summer staffer, Assistant Property Manager. After going to Whitworth University, seminary at Regent College, working as a weekend manager at Plain Hardware, and serving as the Executive Director at Glacier Camp in Montana, he has been led to serve as Executive Director at Tall Timber. His lovely bride, Christie, and three beautiful children (Serenity, Micah and Kyler) love camping too. Say hi when you come visit and learn why Tall Timber is so near and dear to his heart.
Zachary was shaped profoundly by Christ through Tall Timber, a place he holds dear to his heart where he has been a camper, summer staffer, and now serves as our Assistant Director. He will be the one you meet when you want to book a retreat or register for Camp. He oversees the onsite operations at Camp and provides solid leadership for our staff. Please introduce yourself when you arrive and discover what a wonderful heart he has for serving. Ask about his wife Cassie or daughter Melanie and he won't be able to stop sharing the joy they bring to him.
Aaron "Fish" Fishburn
Aaron was born here, well just about, he was born in Leavenworth, but basically raised at Tall Timber by his pioneer spirited parents, Stan and Becky, who were the Directors from 1980 until 2015! Aaron loves his bride, the ever famous singer songwriter, Beth Whitney, and their two children Fiona and Oliver. There is always a spring in Aaron's step but even more so when he is on Tall Timber property. We love his joy and the creative solutions he comes up with to keep Camp functioning.
Sparrow & Milton "Fletch" Fletcher
//Food Service Directors
Sparrow & Fletch came to Tall Timber with over 20 years in the hospitality industry. They both fell in love with Leavenworth during a November Birthday getaway, and feel very blessed to have moved here with their four youngest children. It gives them great joy to serve God while serving food. When they are not in the kitchen they enjoy throwing parties and getting together for game nights with friends. The kitchen is the heart of a home, as it is here at Tall Timber, and Sparrow and Fletch love serving your hearts, your spirit and your bellies!
Steve Hinkle & Sarah Sprouse
//Kitchen Manager and Marketing Director
For the last 15 years as a camper, volunteer, summer staffer, and now year round Kitchen Manager, Steve Hinkle has been called to work at Tall Timber. One summer, Steve convinced Sarah to spend her summer on staff rather than in a painting studio. Since then, Sarah has spent the last several summers at Tall Timber leading art projects and capturing campers’ memories with her camera. Tall Timber has become apart of their love story — they where married at camp in the fall of 2016! Both Steve and Sarah feel honored to work as year-round staff and to give back to the the valley that nourished and helped them grow into leaders.
Kelsey has been involved in camp programming for over 5 years in many different capacities. She has served as a Moto-X instructor, Lifeguard, Recreation Coordinator, Intern, and Assistant Program Lead, all for CRISTA Camps - Island Lake and Miracle Ranch. She is passionate about the students and staff that experience life change through Jesus and camp. Word the wise — she is not afraid to dominate the carpet ball tournament if challenged. Kelsey enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and relaxing with her cat, Lucy.
Shae grew up in Nashville, but has always been drawn to the Pacific Northwest and Washington. After discovering a love for the outdoors in college, she earned her degree in Outdoor Recreation, worked at a variety of camp and outdoor education programs, and eventually decided to move to Washington to continue learning and serving in camping ministry. She’s grown to love Tall Timber, and is excited to see what this next year brings!

Keith Hovde was born in Seattle and moved to Whidbey Island 10 years later. Keith has attended Tall Timber camps and retreats since 8th grade. He began volunteering his sophomore year of high school. Keith loves his 1980 Volkswagen Vanagon and has a passion for music. An adventurer from birth, Keith has loved searching through unknown territory, both metaphorically and literally. Keith’s love for God has led him to want to serve Him here at Tall Timber for, hopefully, the rest of his life. Keith credits his hopeful outlook on life to his mother, who has shown him that, no matter what life hits you with, it’s up to you to turn it into a learning experience.
Cathi came to Tall Timber with a background in front office skills and bookkeeping. After high school, she graduated from Sierra College, a 2 year community college in California, with an AA degree in General Education. She then completed bookkeeping classes through another community college shortly after. When her daughters started school, she began work at an elementary school. Upon moving to Lake Wenatchee in 1992, she was employed at Schiebler Bros., but we snapped her up in 1993 and love the many ways she has served over the years!
